The official website of Jelena Jensen is up for review today, and while it's a name I know, I honestly don't keep up with the pornstar/model scene too much. It looks like she's more of a sexy model as she's posed in all the major men's magazines, and has actually been in some video productions as well (though I wouldn't call her a pornstar really). Her site offers a huge variety of material, from amateur to pro, from solo to lesbian to hardcore, and a bunch of other model's content as well. $30 a month gets you in the door, with no network access to speak of that I see.
The Pros
Pretty large collection.
Some of the solo sites we come across (especially ones from famous models) can be annoyingly small. Thankfully, that's not the case here at all. Jelena offers over 1,200 photo galleries, and over 400 videos, which is quite impressive. More content is added a couple times each week.
Updates come often.
She seems to split the updates pretty evenly between photos and videos, though this week was a bit lopsided in the photos direction. She normally adds something new every 2-3 days or so, with this last week bringing three new photo galleries, and one new video.
Good interaction.
For once, I've found a solo model site from someone famous that does well in the interaction department. She has weekly cam shows for you to check out, plus is pretty active on her blog these days (though that wasn't always the case). Her bio isn't bad, either, to read more about her beginnings. The forum, news section, and store round things out.
Photos look good these days.
They're a pretty good size at 1600x1067 or so, and can look quite nice. Of course, they vary a lot depending on who the photographer is, but I'd say the photo quality is definitely above the video quality overall.
Other Good Stuff:
I'd guess there's at least some exclusive content here. It's tough to tell what is what, since nothing is really labeled either way.
Download options aren't bad here. Videos come in WMV, MPG, and MP4 (mobile) formats, plus a streaming video. Photos are offered in zip files as well.
The Cons
Navigation needs work; too cluttered.
There's almost too much going on here, which is rarely a complaint of mine. I'm not a fan of the script she's using to run the site, and it gets even worse as the sites get larger like this. The content isn't categorized or separated out enough, and the general layout just doesn't work for me with how much content is displayed per page, how the numbered page links work, etc. Plus, the search is woefully inadequate for how much content there is.
Other random models mixed into main content area.
To make the clutter feel worse, there's too much extra content from other models in my opinion. I'm all for beefing up numbers, but I'd like to see this other content separated out into a bonus section or something. Everyone is here to see Jelena Jensen, and while her friends may be hot, I think it should be in another category.
Minor Negatives:
She doesn't provide a ton of background info on the scenes or anything, which is one way to boost personality on a site like this.
Bottom Line
There's a lot to see and a lot of fun, but almost too much going on here for me.
Jelena Jensen decided to kick some ass and do all she could for this site. In a lot of ways, that works well. There's a lot to see, frequent updates, a great blog, weekly cam shows, and a ton of bonus content. However, the site itself just can't quite handle all that's going on here, and it makes navigation and the user experience not as good as it should be. First, I'd start categorizing things better by putting the other/bonus content into a separate area, and maybe categorizing her own material as well (amateur, pro, behind the scenes, etc.); as it is, it's just too much all mixed together in one place. I'd also look to beef up the extremely basic search setup she has going. I think that would be my main (and one of the only) complaints here is just the huge mish-mash of stuff that's too confusing to get through. Video quality could be bumped up a bit, and I wouldn't mind some scene descriptions, but those are a little more minor. Jelena offers a lot here, is fucking hot, and offers some nice scenes. With a redesign, I think she'd have one of the better solo model sites going these days.
