Intro

I Shot Myself is up for review today, and this is a pretty unique site that we've actually reviewed a couple times before in the past. The whole deal here is that this is user-submitted content, but not in the usual sense. The person actually has to take their own photos, while physically touching the camera somehow (fingers, toes, whatever). Plus, they have pretty strict standards controls in places as far as what types of cameras you can use, etc., to keep the quality up. $25 a month gets you in the door, which isn't bad really.

The Pros

Pretty unique self-shot content.

I really like the concept here, especially since they're pretty strict with what they'll put on the site. Anyone can grab a cell phone and shoot shitty pictures, but that won't cut it here at all. They offer content that girls have taken of themselves, but they make sure it's unique, interesting, and looks good.

Lots to see.

They offer over 375 videos, which is more than a lot of paysites, and that's the smallest part of their site. They also offer almost 6,000 photo galleries, which is damn impressive. There's a lot more to see here than I would have guessed there would have been.

Daily photo updates.

No wonder the site got so large - they add two new photo galleries daily here. They add a new video weekly as well, but that's not quite as exciting (though it is appreciated). I hope the update schedule keeps up like this.

Other Good Stuff:

Quite a few of the models here have pretty nice bios you can read through, which adds some good personality to the site.

The Cons

Navigation needs work.

It's just a very plain setup overall for how much content they have. They really need a better search setup than what is there now. You need to be able to filter by models, attributes, locations, etc. They offer none of that now, and it's really difficult to narrow the content down at all.

Older videos don't look as good.

Once you get into the archives, the quality definitely takes a downturn, especially in terms of the videos. The pictures actually look pretty good throughout, but the videos can get pretty small and older-looking rather quickly.

Minor Negatives:

For some reason, they don't offer any streaming or Flash videos, which may annoy some.
Even going beyond the drop in the quality of older sets, some scenes are more hit or miss for quality than others. When so many people are doing their shoots with different equipment, there's some variance expected.

Bottom Line

A great idea for a site that's done pretty well overall; you should have fun if you like seeing real girls.

I Shot Myself does well with all their controls and standards to make sure the content looks good here. I'm not usually a huge fan of any user-submitted sites, but this one feels completely different. The content looks good, the scenes are interesting, and of course the site is still quite active. Plus, there's a lot to see already, especially if you're into the photo thing. I wouldn't mind some more navigation tools, and of course the quality is up and down at times, but they do a better job as a whole than expected.
