PROS:

1. Older guy focus, mix of solo/hardcore.

"A solid collection of older guy content with hi-res pictures but only average quality videos."
Before even getting to the member's area here Hot Older Male the guest tour is very informative. These guys simply lay it all out there for guests to see what they have to offer. The non-member's pages are designed exactly as the member's section so you can a snapshot the all the shoots and models in the collection. There's also an "About Us" page giving specifics on the site philosophy from the owner Chris Roma.

The Goods:

- Older Guy Focus, Mix of Solo & Hardcore. The gay niche includes so many paysite that it's definitely a good selling point to have specific theme and Hot Older Male does that by zeroing in on middle aged men. They refer to it as "Daddy Porn" which is a pretty accurate description. The shoots include both solo performances and hardcore one-on-one, groups, fetishes, and more. The hardcore has both older guy on older guy and older on younger.

- Sizable Collection of Both Pics & Vids. The balance is the key item that stands out to me. These guys have hundreds of both picture galleries and video which makes the collection feel fully developed. The number of total models is also in the hundreds giving enough variety in that area too.

- Many Galleries Have Hi-Res Images. The picture galleries are separated into two distinct sections: Model Sets and Action Sets. The Model Sets far outnumber them but what that really means is the pic galleries have more solo guy shoots and the site's videos focus more on hardcore action. For both the Model and Action sets there are hi-res pictures available on many galleries along with a lower res pic option too.

- Good Design, Some Helpful Browse Tools. Overall the design is well done and it's easy enough to browse the galleries and movies. Mostly I like the cross-linking where the gallery or video page has links to related shoots where the models appear again on the site.

The Bads:

- Low Video Quality, Short Videos. As you can see by the video specs on the TBP site listing Hot Older Male really doesn't have good quality WMV or QT files. This is surprising since they have gone through the trouble of providing hi-res pictures. Really the quality of the movies is sub-par for a paysite and need to ratchet it up to get to what I'd call average quality.

- No Hi-Res Pics on Older Galleries. Scrolling back though the collection will bring up picture galleries that don't have the hi-resolution option. Considering the style of content it's also surprising to me that zip downloads aren't available. This seems like the type of site that should offer those.

- Average Model Index & Update Info. With both of these features it seems like they've gone half way and haven't finished the job. There is a partial model index with thumbnail previews of the guys but there isn't the foundation of an alphabetical list. The sorting revolves around sub-niches and chronological order. Some update postings are available on the member's home page although there isn't a clear dedicated log with past archives.

- Many Upsell Links Especially DVDs. This is something that seems to be ingrained on Hot Older Male. The have a HOM store and throughout the site the picture gallery pages and video pages have links to the model's DVDs that are for sale. Also, there are some additional personals and store links on the site's left margin.

Conclusion:

The $19.95/mo price seems very reasonable considering what Hot Older Male has to offer. That's on the lower range of paysite so it's a pleasant surprise in that way. However I'm sure they make up for that with the large number of DVD and other upsell links that I mentioned earlier. All told the positives outweigh the negatives although the one place they really stub their toe is on the low video quality.
