Intro

Homegrown Video is a production studio that has been around since 1982 so these guys were in the biz well before internet porn took things over. They quickly made the transition and this particular site was put online during the mid/late 1990's so it has a long track record in its own right. What you'll find here is a big archive of downloadable videos along with photo content, erotic stories, and community features. Essentially this is a compilation of Homegrown material spanning several decades along with additional features for users to comment on the content and interact with other users and the site webmasters.

The Pros

Big Collection of Homegrown Studios Movies/Videos/Photos.

The first thing you'd want to see from a studio that's been around for decades and a site that started in the 90's is a big archive of content. Homegrown delivers nicely on that with thousands of videos which are the centerpiece of the content. They also have a large collection of photo galleries which play more of a supporting role in the collection. Updates have been consistent over the years and continue to roll on so things just continue to grow.

All Sorts of Amateur Action, Mix of Newer & Vintage Content.

Videos are broken into sections for Amateur, Vintage, Homegrown All Stars, Before They Were Pornstars, and Office Workers. Throughout you'll find amateur girls along with chicks you now recognize as regulars in the porn business. It is just a ton of mostly hardcore action featuring models from hot college types to mature ladies. Hardcore sex dominates with BJs and Banging and then there is also toy play, lesbian, anal, etc. It is an all-encompassing collection that blends together recent content, slightly older material, and vintage stuff from Homegrown's earlier days.

Full-Scene & Clip Segment Video Downloads, No Limits.

Video options sort of stick to the basics but there is a nice element of consistency. There are full-scene WMV downloads along with smaller clip segments. In-browser streaming is in Flash format which allows for immediate jumping around. There are mobile MP4 files as well on more recent movies.

Member Community, Chat, & Feedback/Comments Features.

These guys have integrated a number of community features that members can get involved with. The member's home page has a summary of member chat posts and then there%u2019s a community tab for messaging, profiles, news, etc. I particularly like the feedback/comments tool on the videos as members let you know what they feel about the model or scene.

Other Good Stuff:

Scene are date-stamped with update informati.n The member's home page has a log of recent additions and there is a section for coming soon items.
Whey you're looking at a video or photo set with an accompanying scene/gallery they do hyperlink over to that for quick viewing.
These guys have set up a special discount price for TBP users which makes the cost lower than their standard rate.

The Cons

Average to Low Content Quality, No Video File Size/Spec Info.

Content quality is one area that is lower than you might expect from a studio. WMV videos come in around 720x480 or 640x480 at the high end and can be lower than that on older scenes. Really the quality is mediocre on the videos and there's room for enhanced specs and even expanded format options. The photos also are up-and-down with mostly video screen captures posted as photo galleries. Also, there aren't any zip files for the photo galleries.

A Few Small or Coming Soon Content Sections.

Among the videos section there are a few items listed like Before They Were Pornstars and Homegrown Office Workers which just had a handful or couple of scenes. I kind of expected more depth in those. Homegrown's Behind-the-Scenes section is coming soon so that appears to still be in the works at the time of this review. There are a couple other little content section or specialty areas that also seem to be not yet completed. Finally, the photo gallery sections seem to have stopped updating back in mid-2012.

Minor Negatives:

A few of the navigation tools could be fine-tuned. For instance there is no full model index and I would have liked some more details on the movies like production year, etc.
Some member's area ads/upsells for other paysites, live cams, etc.

The other

These guys have set up a special discount monthly price for TBP users which makes the cost lower than their standard rate.
The member's area has a large archive of erotic stories along with some additional bonus 3rd party feed content.

Bottom Line

A big archive of Homegrown Video's content that also incoporates some community features.

Not only does homegrown produce content that fits with the amateur genre in terms of the performers but the shoots style and even their site itself fit that mold. The site met my expectations in terms of the quantity and updates do continue. Video quality isn't up to the same level as other studio or movie sites but that sort of goes with the amateur nature of their content and a good deal of this stuff was produced a while back. Overall Homegrown has its own style and feel and they do give members access to giant archive of their videos.
