Today we're reviewing the sister-site (err, make that the brother-site) of our #1-rated site ever: Video Box. There's one big difference here, and that is that today's site is Gay Video Box. The goods are pretty much the same as their main site, and the bads will be just as hard to come by. $10 a month will get you inside this gay porn mecca of content that should be a fun ride. I would recommend the upgrade to the $15 monthly plan however which will get you their highest video quality.
The goods:
- Lots to see here. There are currently 144 DVDs online, each containing a few different scenes of course. Add this to the awesome price of $10-$15 a month and you just get a lot for your money here.
- Updates come every other day. These aren't just small one-clip updates either; they add a full DVD every other day which is quite awesome. It doesn't compare to their main site, but considering it's niche content and you're getting 4-5 new scenes every other day, I think you're doing okay.
- Quality is outstanding! The only thing missing here is high-def content, and I'm sure that's because people aren't yet producing high-definition DVDs quite yet. Otherwise, you get awesome-quality 720x480 and 3500kbps or so of video goodness (as long as you purchased the upgraded membership) which is pretty much unheard of out there.
- Great browse features. You can narrow down your searches to a specific mix of content categories, browse full DVDs or just specific scenes, etc. This is really a pretty advanced site for getting around which is always appreciated.
The bads:
- Updates slower than on their main site. You can't really complain about a full new DVD every other day, but I'm going to anyway. Over at Video Box they add five new DVDs a day, and that's what I want here too dammit!
- Non-exclusive content. To bring you bargain-basement pricing for extremely high-quality content, you have to give up a few things somewhere. Their DVDs are not exclusive, and you may have seen them elsewhere before. It's a big catch 22 since they'd have to charge a lot more if they offered something more exclusive.
Conclusion:
What more is there to say? Gay Video Box is obviously a great site at a great price. They provide a lot of content, all of it is high quality, and it's growing by leaps and bounds every week. There are some downsides (mostly just the exclusivity issue), but if you just need some porn, I can't think of many better places out there for gay material.
