Don’t let the site name fool you. The only game you’ll find on today’s site, Game Link, is Hide the Salami. Game Link is actually a pay-per-view movie site and DVD store. With thousands of videos available to their visitors, their massive collection has something for everyone. And whether you like to download, stream, or even purchase a hardcopy of the DVD, Game Link can meet all your needs.
The Goods –
They’ve got a huge collection of DVDs. There are currently over 13,300 full-length movies to choose from. They’ve got all the major categories, studios, and stars you would hope to find on a site like this. Updates seem to be coming so the site is only getting bigger.
Getting around is easy, thanks to a solid set-up. In addition to the usual categories and star and studio lists, you can browse best sellers, top rated, future releases, and even HD DVDs and Blu Rays (available for purchase, not download). They also display other movies that you might be interested in, after you’ve viewed an item.
Game Link offers lots of fun extras. Their editorial section offers Must See Lists, covering the best in dozens of genres. You can read scene reviews from different movies. Then there are the articles covering things like Are Milfs Getting Hornier, Guide to Gonzo Porn, and Creampies: A Semantic Approach. They definitely make for some interesting reading!
The Bads –
None of the content is dated. They claim that new movies are added in multiple genres daily, but with no update log and no dates on any of the scenes, I can’t be certain that is the case.
I expected higher quality video. What they have looks fine, at 1000k, but that’s really getting to be average these days. I would expect more from a site that specializes in DVD content like this.
Things can get expensive fast on Game Link. The pay per minute videos can be streamed for approximately 8 cents per minute. To view an entire movie, it’ll cost you about $9.60. If you want to download it, it’ll cost you $20. There are a few other rental options, but those are your basic choices. Considering that there are plenty of other DVD sites out there offering hundreds, even thousands of fully downloadable movies at a flat rate of $15 to $30 a month, pay per view can be a tough sell.
There’s a strong upsell push on Game Link. You’re invited to purchase DVDs over and over again. They also sell toys and clothes and welcome you to spend more money on Game Link Live, where you can chat with online girls. Lots of ads and dollar signs on this site.
Conclusion –
There’s no doubt that Game Link is a solid DVD site. They’ve got a huge collection that offers something to everyone. However, I’m not sure they really stand out to me within the ppv genre. It’s not terribly cheap or fantastic quality, two things that would have impressed me more than a strong editorial section. Game Link is a good site but I’d still like to see even more from them.
