Fritz Ryan is a dude with an original collection of pictures and videos of European models. He describes himself as an ordinary guy so while he is a photographer he comes at this site from a different direction than many other photographer compilation sites. The guest tour allows non-members to check out the different models and sample the style of material he has to offer.
The Goods:
- Exclusive Amateur European Content. This is the heart and soul of the site. Fritz combines a number of niches including amateur, European, and photography. The amount of videos is impressive (in the hundreds) and he has done well to build a collection with nice balance between the number of photo galleries and videos. Also, he has shot hundreds of models which is key to a site of this kind.
- High Quality Pictures & Videos. Expectations from photography sites are higher than typical paysites. Fritz's picture quality as high-res by TBP's content fact standards as they are large nice-resolution pics. The videos are in WMV and DivX formats with a quality level on par with the pictures.
- Model Index, Niches, & Update Log. These are the navigation features of the site. The model index is straightforward and the easiest way to browse the content. There are also niche category breakdown plus a keyword search feature. The member's home page highlights recent additions which are put online every four days.
The Bads:
- No Picture Options or Zip Files. While the picture quality is in place there isn't any options beyond the one picture size. As a photography site Fritz's collection screams out for things like multiple-resolution choices and zip download files. I was surprised at the lack of options he offered for the pics.
- Vid Clip Pages Not Organized Well. The videos are in clip segments plus he usually posts a shoot trailer as well. For some reason the clips aren't always arranged in order even though they're clearly labeled as part 1,2,3,etc. This isn't a huge problem but I did find it to be annoying and a sloppy design issue.
- No Full-Movie Files Available. Just like with the picture galleries there is room for improvement on the video download options. Based on the size of the video clips full-movie files would work well here and be a welcome addition. Even if it's only in one of the formats (WMV or DivX) it would be a nice feature to see.
Conclusion:
All-in-all Fritz Ryan has a solid collection of all original amateur content. The high number of videos and using European models are characteristics that stand out. The foundation of high quality pictures and videos are what surfers expect from photography style sites. The negatives I pointed are more items that could be improved and not huge damaging weaknesses.
