Man, just looking around the tour at Fetish Planet has me all weirded out. From the chick dominating the guy, to the suffocation (??), to the welts caused by spanking, I think these ladies can stay the hell away from me, lol. I'll be having nightmares for the next day or two. Anyhow, obviously by now you know Fetish Planet has some freaky stuff. Moreover, it's a whole damn network of 20+ sites, most of which deal with niches a little off the beaten path.
Unfortunately after logging in, I was disappointed to see it looked like any other corporate porn site out there from the get go. While they deal with some unique niches here, when sites are filled with mostly third-party feeds and stuff, it's just a big turn off for me. There's so many colorful, blinking links, and random icons around, it's tough to know exactly where you're headed if you're not familiar with the site.
The main thing to check out at each site is the photos section that particular site offers. These are usually setup in the same manner, and were kind of a pain to get around. You'll usually end up with a text menu on the left, with the galleries showing up on the right. Sometimes they'll divide them up into categories, which helps some, but overall just adds to the clutter. The general look of the picture content is older, amateur stuff, usually in the 800x600 range. As far as I could tell, it's all bought non-exclusive stuff, but at least it usually fits the niche. Although beware a few niches overlap, which can lead to some duplicate content at times.
Some of the sites have their own video sections, while others link to the TwistedFlixxx site, which contains all sorts of streaming videos. At TwistedFlixxx, all videos are in Windows Media format. You get a pretty standard 320x240, played in your browser around 250kbps. There's also a low-quality version, but I never recommend those. Otherwise, you can find video clips on the actual sites sometimes too (it's actually really hard to get there - I'd usually be in the photo galleries, and see a link to "movie clips" at the very top which I'd click. I never did see one of these links on the member's homepage for the site though). These are in both Real Video, and AVI format, which means either way you have to download the whole clip before you can watch it (they're real short though). The quality on all the videos is just fine, and about what I'd expect for these sites. About the only clips I wouldn't recommend are the AVI ones, as they look just awful, lol.
I guess I just really don't like these corporate network sites. Years ago, I would have assumed this was great because of the sheer amount of content they offer. After seeing all the smaller, independent sites I've seen now, I'm so thankful I don't need to rely on these types to get off. I think they served a purpose, but so many of them are stuck in their old ways that we never see anything really innovative here anymore. With the overall quality, and level of interactivity just so low compared to other sites, plus having to pay $35 a month for the privilege of being a member, I just can't see how it's worth it. Fetish Planet has a slight edge in that they offer some cool fetish content, but nowadays there's even good, independent fetish sites popping up as well. The only reason to join here would be if you're looking for as much fetish content in one site as possible, without any worries over quality or uniqueness. Otherwise, I'd say I'd have to pass, especially with the high price tag.
