Explicite.com is the official site of French porn director and photographer John B. Root. My first thoughts were of apprehension. I have to admit I do have more of a taste for your typical American blond bombshell and that sometimes more artistic sites, while intriguing, don't necessarily arouse me. However, once inside I was quite pleased to find the models were really very beautiful! And while Root is certainly an artist, his quality photography still maintains the sexuality I feel sometimes lacks in some work commonly labeled as "artistic."
The preview area claims to have more than 20,000 exclusive photos inside and that is correct (I actually counted around 23,000). To break the count down further, of those 23,000, approximately 4,000 are hardcore and 3,200 are categorized in his "Attic" section. The site is updated three times per week. In addition to the photographs, you'll find over 300 video clips including full-length versions of all of Root's tv and film productions. I found these completely novel and enjoyable. The 20 videos are broken down into scenes, each running 10 minutes or so. Accompanying each film is a brief discussion of the plot, filming and cast. This comes in very handy for those of us not versed in the French lexicon. Yup, that's right. Much of the site is in French. This is not a huge deal, as Root does provide several sections in English and who really has any objections to Marinella moaning in French versus English? Not me! However, this does put one at a disadvantage if one intends to follow the dialogue of the films. The video is, as expected, first class.
As previously mentioned, the photos are broken down into three sections, Debutantes, Hardcore, and the Attic. The Debutantes section features all the beautiful models you were hoping to find inside. The pictures are all exclusive and the girls appear to be completely new to erotic photography. All of the models are quite beautiful in a non-pornstar kind of way. You will find no silicone here, no fake blondes, and no over-glammed makeup. The pictures are really quite refreshing. Of course, the photography itself is also worth mentioning. The images are crisp and clear and quite large (enlargeable up to 1200x1800!). Hardcore is exactly what you'd expect, and hard it is! From anal to oral, peeing to fisting, and masturbation to good old fashioned sex, it's all in here. Again, beautiful women, fine costumes, and excellant photography makes these pictures a pleasure to view. You might be wondering what you'll find in the Attic. This is kind of a "left overs" section. You'll find the sets that are too short or old and women that Root calls not "classical beauties." Don't you worry, though. These lovely ladies are far from unattractive and the photos that he finds unsatisfactory are more than acceptable on most websites. Either way, he does explain why each set is placed in the Attic versus Debutantes or Hardcore.
The site is quite easy to navigate with all of a model's photographs, video, and short biography available by clicking on her picture in the Debutantes index. It's also quite easy to jump around the site with links placed all around, definently minimal back-button clicking here.
I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this site. It is really a pleasure to view a site that regards women as beautiful creatures to be treasured and respected, not tramps to be demeaned and humiliated. Although I feel I must subtract a few points for the large French sections, I still feel this site is tres bien! The frequent updates, quality photography, and beautiful women all make this website well worth the monthly subscription price.

Explicite was one of the first sites we reviewed last summer and even with little to compare it to we recognized that this was an excellent site. Now, having reviewed over a hundred sites I feel Explicite is even more deserving of a top 10 spot on The Best Porn.
The picture quality here is incredible. I don't think there is any other site out there offering photos at 1200x1800. Simply amazing. Thankfully, this quality has remained untainted and I appreciate it even more now than I did before. The only thing holding Explicite at a 9.5 instead of a 10 for quality is the videos, which are still good just not as perfect as the photos are. The only thing that has really changed here is the content count. We now have 27,000 pictures (up from 23,000) and 451 videos (up from 300). For a site this good, that is exactly what I want to see.
This is one great site. I haven't come across too many sites in my travels that are both artistic and hardcore and this one more than fits the bill. I think what is unique here is that Explicite can appeal to a diverse crowd; both those seeking hardcore erotica and high quality photography will be very satisfied here.

Explicite has made some great changes since our last visit. Formerly the site was updated three times a week. They've doubled that and you can now expect new galleries and videos six days a week! The content count has increased from 360 galleries to 404 bringing the total to just over 30,000 pictures and the number of videos has increased from 451 to 516. The new update schedule just barely went into effect within the last few weeks so I definitely expect these numbers to skyrocket at our next visit.
There have also been a few cosmetic changes. Both the tour and member's area have been redesigned, though they still maintain a clean and easy navigation. The webmaster and photographer, John, tells us that more changes are in the works including the offering of video up to 680k. Previously I had written that the only thing holding back the site from a perfect 10 on quality was the videos so I'm looking forward to bumping up that score in the future. Explicite remains an excellent join and I'm very pleased to see that they're continuing to improve and upgrade an already strong website.

Eight and a half months have passed since our last visit to Explicite when they were on the cusp of several important changes. They were just starting near daily updates and I'm glad to see that has continued. The video count has increased from 516 to 595 and the number of photos has grown from 30,000 to nearly 35,000. Not bad. The other site upgrade included 680k videos and I'm pleased to see those now in all new video updates. A site note for August tells us that all photoshoots are now available for download in zip files. These changes are good to see. It's great that this high quality site is working hard to become as user-friendly as possible.
Score remains at 93.0.

Another year has passed and Explicite continues to blow most of the competition out of the water. Thanks to continued near-daily updates, the collection has grown to 47,000 pics and 718 videos, an awesome sized collection. Since our last visit, they've introduced even more video options. Users now have a choice of wmv, DivX, mpeg, Quicktime, and iPod, all in two quality settings! I don't know if we've ever seen so many format options! The only not-so-good news to report is that they've raised the initial price. The first month will know cost you $39 (ouch) with the standard $30 a month after that. That's getting up there. Still, you're not going to find these awesome quality videos anywhere else so you may just have to suck it up for that first month. I think in the long run you'll find it well worth it.
