PROS:

Erotic Cinema is a hardcore movie site with videos in most popular niches. The guest tour here is more of an old school style layout with several splash pages with samples leading towards the join page. Lots of movie sites have tours that allow members to browse the whole collection before joining but that is not the case here. What is available are some nice quality vid trailers and sharp graphics. In this case a review is helpful for explaining what they have to offer.

The Goods:

- 100s of Downloadable Hardcore Videos. The term "video" means different things on different sites. Sometimes it refers to entire full-length movies, other times its a movie scene, and other times it's short videos clips. On Erotic Cinema one video is a movie scene of about 15-25 minutes each on average. This is not a huge collection for a movie download site but it's not small either.

- Sizable Number of High-Def Videos. The most prominently listed niche category in the member's area is High-Def Movies. This section consists of more than a couple hundred videos that are 4000k bit rate and very high quality. The guest tour touts the quality so I was glad to see they deliver with a nice amount of these movies.

- Regular Updates, Vids are Date-Stamped. The information on the movies includes performer name, length in minutes, and date added. The member's main page also has a listing of the recent additions and it appears they add new stuff nearly every day. Each niche section has the movies listed chronologically so it's easy to track updates across the site.

The Bads:

- Many Avg Quality Vids, Avg Downloading. The High-Def videos section makes up roughly a third of the number of total videos. The other movies on the site are average quality and in fact less impressive than what I expect from a movie download site (800k bit rate is standard here). What I don't like about the downloading is that it's not possible to stream the WMV files in a stand-alone player. You must either stream in-browser or download the file. WMV is the format along with other iPod and PSP files.

- No Browsing When Downloading Files. This is navigation issue that I've run into on only a handful of sites but it always catches my attention and drives me crazy. When downloading a file from the site the navigation is frozen and you can't browse around at all. Some of the high-def files are 500-700Mb which means 20-30 mins of waiting on a high speed connection.

- Non-Exclusive Content, Little Scene Info. The movies are from a variety of sources and are non-original. This is simply the nature of movie download sites but still worth noting on a review. Exclusivity is something lots of surfers look for but these guys are selling quantity and quality (for the high-def vids) instead of originality.

- Fairly High Monthly Price. The monthly rate here is $34.95 which puts it on the high end of monthly paysites. This is higher than what most reality/video networks charge as well as being more expensive than most of their movie download competitors. Any kind of a price over $30/mo always makes me take notice.

Conclusion:

The one area that didn't make my Good/Bad list is site design (other than the no-navigation when downloading issue). The overall layout is straightforward with a few dozen niches that are browsable in chronological order. There is also a keyword search which is pretty basic. The navigation is simple to figure out but nothing fancy. Erotic Cinema's content really is a mixed bag in terms of quality with some ultra high-res files and then other below average movies.
