 BOTTOM LINE:

"A well done site of English guys featuring a lot of softcore and a bit of hardcore too."
English Lads has a pretty large collection of young and fit guys. The site layout isn't overly flashy but after browsing around for a while I found it to be very well done. The free tour Preview is simple enough to find and in the members area there are several useful navigation tools. An alphabetical model directory (sorted by first name) makes it easy to browse the men each of whom has a model profile and links to all his photo and video sets. Their search function is kinda neat, it lets you select from up to 14 criteria to find only models with your specific interests. Separate sections are also available to browse only videos and only duo/group shoots. The duo/group section is not all that large, so while there is some hardcore, English Lads mostly features solo guy softcore and masturbation.

The site does have a lot of pictures. Some galleries offer both large and small size pictures. The small ones are around 450x600 although they are sharp pics. Things are much more impressive when a gallery has large pics; those are very nice at about 750x1000. As I browsed around it seemed pretty hit-and-miss as to whether I'd find a gallery with the large pics offered of just the small ones. The one thing that annoyed me was that the pictures open in a new browser window. Even though a slideshow function is available I'm not a fan of the new window technique. That's the one area where the site is somewhat difficult to browse.

With 100+ videos feature a mix of solo and guy/guy action. You'll notice they're in QuickTime format which is something to be aware of. Personally it's not my preferred format although it's nice to see they can be downloaded. Usually QT sites only have streaming, so I'll give them credit there. These are big files so even though they stream for me quickly and smoothly on my cable modem, the downloads are time consuming especially for scenes that are over 10 minutes long.

The site gets updated every 2 or 3 days and there's a newsletter too. There's a note in the Latest News that in July 2005 they added their first widescreen video. It'll help if they continue adding those to the movie collection. Membership isn't all that cheap but at least they have a deep content collection for members. Overall the site is well done; the only questions you'll want to ask yourself is whether or not you're okay with the QT movie format and the smallish pics that are found in some of the galleries.

1st Follow-Up Review Review: 09-08-06

It's steady as she goes over at English Lads. They've continued updating and now have a video collecti0n that's approaching 200 vids. The amount of photo galleries and number of models continue to grow and remain strong as well. They've stuck to their guns with the QT video formats and pictures that open in a new browser window. Those viewing options still are the main items holding the site score down a little bit. I guess they've decided to go with a sister site called EnlishLads.tv for WMV format vids. That's a separate site that seems to be running on some kind of a pay-per-view token type system. English Lads get a discount there but we at TBP don't include that as part of this site since it costs extra and is a separate site.
