DVD Tube falls into the downloadable DVD site category with a sizable collection of movies for members to stream and/or download. The tour set-up is helpful since non-members can browse the site and see both the navigation style and movies/stars included in the collection. Basically, spending a few minutes bumping around will let you know if they have the titles you're looking for.
The Goods:
- Thousands of Hardcore DVDs. With the number of movies well into the thousands DVD Tube does well in the quantity rating. The site is geared towards a general audience and just about every popular niche is represented along with a few more micro-niches like rimming, wrestling, lactating, and uniforms. As is to be expected the main niches like teen, asian, gonzo, blowjob, etc. are the fullest sections.
- Complete-Movie Download Files. The downloading file choice here is different than most other DVD download site out there. Five quality levels are available and the downloading is for complete movies. Not just a complete scene but the entire film. Since saving the files to your computer is the main reason members join sites like this particular set-up is something to take note of. I'm sure many surfers will find this a helpful system but it might not be for everyone.
- Daily Updates w/ Countdown Clock. There is a dedicated page for the new releases that can be browse and they site does have a countdown clock which shows the number of hours until the next few movies will be put online. Based on our TBP site fact staff DVD Tube does add new movies every day. That's the kind of update pace that is an asset to movie download sites like this.
The Bads:
- Few Download Options, No Scene Clips. The complete movie download files were discussed in my 'Good' section but beyond that the viewing options are lacking. Streaming is really the only other choice. Although there are the same five quality levels for the streams the lack of scene clips or other options for downloading is a clear negative.
- No Model Index Pics or Studio Search. The navigation is pretty straightforward and I didn't run into anything confusing. There are two clear negatives that make things less user-friendly than they should be. First, the model index doesn't have any pictures of the girls. Second, the studio isn't published for the movies so it's not possible to navigate in that way.
- Update Log/History Dates Not Posted. While the update countdown clock is present and the site does add new material regularly they're not big on showing the "date added" for the movies on the site. Even the page showing the newly added movies doesn't have specific dates posted. Considering they're updating regularly it's weird that they don't showcase the history with details.
- High Monthly Price. At $39.73/mo DVD Tube is on the high end of monthly paysites in terms of price. Generally speaking competing movie sites and reality/video networks come in at $30/mo or less so what they charge here does stand out in a negative way.
Conclusion:
One thing not discussed yet is exclusivity. As is the nature of DVD sites these movies are not original and they come from a variety of popular studios. I definitely have to say the one characteristic that makes DVD Tube stand our are the complete movie download files. That's just not something that you regularly see.
