Dixter has an interesting "About Dixter.com" page that lays out the site's concept. It's a collection of amateur guys ranging from 18 to about 30. Taking a few minutes to browse the guest tour will show what style of content is offered. The shoots include both solo stripping/masturbation and guy/guy hardcore.
The Goods:
- Exclusive Collection, Solo & Hardcore. The basic format is for the scene to open with a brief intro and chatting between the guy(s) and cameraman. The depending on whether it’s solo or hardcore the scene progresses with that type of activity. The originality/exclusivity is the key asset of Dixter's material.
- Balanced Amount of Pics & Vids. The structure of the site is based on the shoots. There aren't separate picture and video sections. Instead each model has both a picture gallery and video. Generally speaking this is the type of set-up I like to see from an original photography site. As things grow it should continue to offer a balanced amount of both pic galleries and movies.
- Clean Design Including Guest Tour. The overall design is sharp and professional. The member's area has the same layout as the guest tour. The tour has a nice showcase of the picture samples as well as video trailers. With some growth they might need to add some additional navigation features but the foundation is strong which is a positive.
The Bads:
- Average Pic/Vid Quality, Few Options. Content quality is one area where I expected more from Dixter. Considering they shoot their own material and don't have a big database of content they should focus on providing high-res content. Both the picture and video quality are just simply average. There aren't picture quality options or zip files. The movies are only in WMV in two quality levels.
- No Content Dates or Update Info. The update details are simply missing in action. They make it a point to announce their nomination for a website award while not providing any specifics on when they add content. There are only a few dozen shoots so it's a small site at the time of this review. Update info is vital so it's disappointing that they don't go through the effort to provide it to members.
- Could Use More Hardcore Shoots. Dixter does venture into the guy/guy realm with some of their shoots. Since they do this I think they should add more hardcore since I'm sure they will be some of the most popular among members.
Conclusion:
Dixter is a newish site that was launched in mid 2007. They have put together a pretty good foundation by shooting their own content and having a nice site design. At the same time the value isn't totally in place yet with the amount of content being small and the update info being nonexistent. It'll be interesting to see how the site progresses as they get more established over time.
