The ladies behind Dark Play call themselves the Cyber-Dykes (http://www.cyber-dyke.net/cydy-bio.html). Two of them, Zille and Alexi, started Dark Play in 2000 with the goal of producing a site with high quality and a reasonable price. I always give credit to BDSM and fetish sites that produce their own exclusive content. I mean there are a ton of sites shooting their own material in the niches like hardcore, amateur, and blowjobs, but a far fewer number fetish sites do the same. Even though bdsm isn't what I'm interested in, my experience with reviews tells me that the fetish website market is crammed with sites using the rehashed and outdated content of poor quality, especially a lot of that Japanese bondage stuff. If you've joined many fetish sites, I'm sure this isn't news to you. With Dark Play you can be assured the material isn't the same old repackaged stuff you've seen already and the site also has the added twist of lesbian BDSM action. Everything is chick on chick fetish action; would you expect anything less from the Cyber-Dykes? It's worth mentioning that a good number of the performers are not lipstick lesbians, but are more along the lines of butch chicks.
The content is heavy on the pictures and writing and light on the videos. The main section "Current Galleries" has 16 top level albums with 69 total sub albums and a total of 1,600+ pics. Here you'll find leather, latex, ropes, spanking, strap-on sex, and tattoos. Dozens more galleries are in three other sections: BDSM Archive, Fetish Archive, and XXX Archive. BDSM and Fetish follow the lead of the Current Galleries but the XXX one has lesbian sex including oral, strap-on, and finger sex. Galleries in all sections have summaries describing the action and in some cases long story-like writings. What I like best about the pictures is the different plots and settings played out in the galleries. Examples include ballet bondage and a plot set in the Weimar Republic. In other words they're not just shooting two chicks spanking each other; they put some real effort into adding fantasy to much of the work.
There are around 18 videos, which isn't a lot, but some of the action is interesting. There's a video with a chick taking a bath in milk, another with "sushi bondage", and my favorite called "The Queen of Halloween" where a girl pisses into a jack-o-lantern. Each video has its own unique type of action although many have some decent rock-n-roll background music. Videos average a few minutes in length each.
I'm surprised and a bit disappointed at the content quality, specifically the picture size. Many pics are around the 480x640 range which seems small for content these guys produced. That's about the size of pics I expect from purchased content. Some galleries have larger pics but nothing blew me away. Same goes for the videos which are fairly grainy and could definitely use improvement. Still Dark Play at $20/mo the site does have unconventional lesbian content that is likely to interest some bdsm and fetish fans. One thing that concerns me is the dates on the Current Galleries show that only 4 new top level albums have been added over the past 4 months. This isn't a large site so slow updates like that means there won't be too much reason for you to remain a member for month after month.
