Intro

C1R or Channel 1 Releasing is a hardcore gay site that is a hybrid in a few of different ways. First the content includes a blend of DVD movie content and live shows with archives. Actually there is also photo gallery content as well. Secondly the membership has both a monthly membership cost and then VOD minutes that members use to view the movies. Finally C1R has some exclusive content/models alongside non-exclusive movies from several studios. All these things combine to give the site a bit of a different feel than just a standard general gay site. For those more familiar with Director names Chi Chi Larue, Dirk Yates, and Doug Jeffries are the three main people in the movie database.

The Pros

Lots of DVDs & Live Show Archives, Some Exclusive C1R Models.

C1R does well with the quantity as they have hundreds of full length DVD movies, several thousand show archived videos, lots of photos, and thousands of models. A section of C1R exclusive models has 20 guys and then there is a clear focus on Chi Chi Larue, Dirk Yates, and Doug Jeffries in the movie section. The live show section has a mix of solo guy stripping/masturbation content along with hardcore.

The appearance of Channel 1 is professional and sharp which fits well with the content available. A navigation header has a clear breakdown of the content areas like VOD, Live & Raw, and model index. The Cons

The lack of downloads will be something of concern to many surfers. This is one of those sites that sticks with in-browser Flash streaming for all their content. Even the picture content is restricted with one image size and no zip files. With more and more sites moving in the direction of more formats and higher-res content the C1R options seem a bit behind the times.

Live Show content seems to mostly revolve around archives. There are some live shows but they aren't daily or even weekly. The schedule is limited with only the next show posted.

Bottom Line

C1R has an interesting blend of DVD & live show content but the streaming-only video format hurts.

Channel 1 has been around for a lot of years and has a sizable amount of content available. The things that stand out most are that they have tons of live show archives and also the pricing structure which has both the monthly cost and VOD minutes. Those are the most prominent items to consider while checking out the site.
