CamsAtHome.com is a live cam site offering more than 2,500+ models with about 60+ online at any one time. Right away you'll notice the flashy site design, and I don't mean flashy in the high-brow professionally kind-of way (although there are some cool features here), I mean flashy in the there are too many flashing graphics kind-of way. It's really annoying, actually. Regardless, you'll find girls here from around the world and can enter into chat for anywhere from $1.99 (nude/not always private) to $5.99 (private) per minute, which is relatively more expensive than many of the other live cam sites that we've seen. You can also but "pre buy" minutes for a model, but those minutes can only be used towards the model in which you have bought them for/from.
The Good:
- Aside from the "flashy" banners/site design, Cams At Home really does offer some nice features. Each model has a homepage that lists some personal profile information and even a schedule (at times), along with a few images (sometimes digital, depending on the model), webcam archives, stories, and the ability to email, SMS, or send a gift. Cams At Home also offers the ability to tip the girls, and Quick Buy time, which offers discounted rates, but only for that one model you've selected it from. Their chat feature will also translate languages for you. I didn't use that feature, however, so I'm not sure how well it works; a nice touch nonetheless.
- Even though there are generally only 60+ models online at any one time, every chat room I entered was lively enough to keep things interesting, and that's without having to pay for nude or private chat. There also seems to be a lot of other cool features to keep you occupied, like model voting for prizes, party cams and other extras.
The Bad:
- When it comes down to the number of models online, Cams At Home can't compare to many of the other cam sites out there, especially when it comes to the variety. Most cam sites offer at least a few male models, gay, shemales, couples, etc. Cams At Home is mostly solo girls and amateurs, although there was one shemale online during my visit.
- As with any live cam site, things can get very expensive and very quickly. $5.99 per minute is definitely on the upper end, even for a cam site. A nice feature that is offered is discounted rates if you're looking to pre-buy in, but remember, you can only use them with the model you've selected at the time of purchase.
- Again, there are many great features here, but the overall site design could really use some cleaning up. Take one look at the tour and you'll know exactly what I mean. Another issue was sometimes with the streaming quality, but to be honest, I've seen better and I've also seen much worse.
The Conclusion:
Overall I'm a fan of some of CamsAtHome.com's many cool features, model bios and schedules (not offered for all models), but I'm not a huge fan of the sites' look and design. The pages feel cluttered and all the flashing text and banners are bothersome. When it comes right down to it, there isn’t really the number of models (online) that one would hope for in a live cam & chat site. Cams At Home also lacks the more obscure options & categories like men, groups, fetish, etc. Plus the price of a private chat is one of the most expensive out there. Clearly there are many areas to improve and work on, but that's not to say that my time here was a total waste. I did, in fact enjoy myself, but then again, the price point would probably leave me more guilty than anything.
