CaliforniaPimp.com is a reality site that exploits aspiring Hollywood actresses for your pleasure. They put out ads in local papers advertising auditions for calendar modeling and when the pretty young thing arrives, she quickly goes from bikini model to amateur porn star. The premise is not uncommon so the videos need to be pretty entertaining to stand out from the rest of the reality crowd. I wasn't too impressed with the design of the site, especially the text based member's home page, but I won't judge this book by its cover. After all, CaliforniaPimp as been around for four years now; they must be doing something right!
This has to be the largest reality site I've ever seen. I counted 173 episodes, not including the 17 "rejection" episodes. I can't think of a single reality site that has half as many episodes! I suppose the large collection is mainly due to the age of the site. CaliforniaPimp has videos dating back to June of 2000, before the reality craze really had much steam. They update a few times a week with new and old material.
A typical episode goes something like this: The girl arrives to find webmaster dude alone in a studio. He has a video camera on her at all times. She usually gets a little uncomfortable at the camera and asks why he's filming her already. After some small talk he has her move against a wall where she twists and turns and shows off for the camera. He asks them about their lives, slipping in sexual questions as innocently as possible. He always brings the conversation back to the modeling assignment so they remember what is at stake. He usually "recommends" they take off their top just so the producer can really see her body. And then they might as well take off their bottoms while they're at it. Sometimes from there they masturbate, sometimes they leave and sometimes they climb up on the bed (the only piece of furniture in the room) and go at it. Blowjobs were the most common scene. I felt the videos were pretty realistic and entertaining. At times the way the guy breathed into the mic with "oh baby" was just a little creepy, but overall the scenes were funny and believable. Be sure to check out the rejection clips, as well. These are videos of women who got pissed off when they were told to get naked. Some of them get pretty mad. I think they're a fun addition to the site.
Video quality is about average. All of the clips up until a few months ago play at 350k. The newest ones look much better at 590k. Overall these numbers aren't too impressive but the quality is about what you'd expect from a reality website. All of the videos are offered in both high speed and modem and can be streamed and downloaded. They play in Real Player for streaming and Windows Media for mpeg downloads. My main complaint about the videos is the download time. They downloaded at a speed of about half of what most sites offer. This makes for a 30 minute plus wait. Very frustrating.
CaliforniaPimp.com has the largest collection of entertaining reality videos I've seen on the net. I'd just like to see the site become a bit more current. As I mentioned before, the design itself is a little too simplistic and dated. I also think they might consider higher quality video, as well. The price is a bit high at almost $30 a month but if you find the videos entertaining it just might be worth it.
