We've looked at Brain Pass several times over the past few years, and they've always been one of the better networks out there. They did get stuck for a while without much new in terms of technology or options, but that's all changed now as they seem to be transitioning over to a new site called the Pornstar Network. Once inside the member's area, you'll see the new logo and layout, and I like what I see off the bat. They have a great centralized member's area that houses all the network content in one place. Still here are the multiple download options, 54 sites, and daily updates. Also still here is the special discount that will get you in for $20 a month, which isn't a bad deal at all.
The Pros
Lots of content available.
They've been around a long time, and in that time, they've added a lot of new sites and content. They are approaching the 9,000 scene mark, which is incredibly impressive considering it's all original content. More stuff is put up daily, so expect the numbers to rise quite handily over the next while.
Daily updates.
They go beyond just daily updates I guess, and update almost like a DVD site does. They average around eight new video scenes per day, and one new photo set per day, which definitely helps those numbers skyrocket as mentioned above.
Decent search feature.
It's not the best I've seen, but it's awesome to have nonetheless. It filters down the content quickly, and lets you find stuff you're interested in. Without it, it would be a huge pain to surf site by site to find the stuff you want.
Other Good Stuff:
They've always had decent video options, and that continues pretty well with their new site, too. Expect to find a full WMV, WMV clips, four MPG full options, and streaming video.
They have good options all around. I like that when viewing a video, it remembers which tab you were on (streaming, or downloads) from one video to the next. Plus, there's a whole preference pane where you can choose a few things, such as whether videos should automatically start playing.
The Cons
Navigation could still be expanded.
With the new site setup, they should take it to the max in terms of navigation options. While the sorting and viewing options are good, why can't you choose more than one category? That one is my biggest complaint, but they could also add more model/pornstar search filters.
Many sites stop updating after a while.
Their claim to growth has been more about adding studios and sites. A lot of times, I remember reviewing a site of theirs that would have 60 videos up and stop updating. Some of the older ones are the worst offenders, so it may not matter as much anymore, but be on the lookout still for your favorites.
Minor Negatives:
I'm surprised there are no high-definition videos available anywhere yet. I wouldn't expect them to be all over the place since a lot of this stuff is from DVD studios, but still.
800x600 even for the newest pictures is pretty pathetic. I know photos are a smaller part of the package here, but that's just way too small.
Bottom Line
A great redesign overall, and it continues to get better.
I like all the changes I see here at the new Pornstar Network. The centralized database of content is awesome, and it makes finding certain types of scenes, or just the newest updates from across all the sites, a lot easier. The video options remain good, and they still look pretty good overall. It's just a nice, large collection of all original scenes. You get the feeling of a DVD site, but all brand new content. I wouldn't mind seeing a little high-definition video added, and the navigation options still aren't exhausted, but overall I'm glad to see them moving forward, and things look great.
