Bondage USA contains the work of erotic photographer Chuck Stevens. There's an "About" page that highlights who he is including his book and magazine credits. Personal websites like these always made a lot of sense to me for experienced photographers like Stevens since it allows them to showcase their work without having to deal with a publication to get it done. Also, it's always nice to see more sites with original bondage and fetish material in those niches.
The Goods:
- Exclusive Bondage/Fetish Galleries. The photo shoots are exclusively shot by Stevens and they feature sexy models from throughout. Ropes and other bondage restraints are used and the overall concept seems to be more on the artistic side of the fetish rather than serious pain inflicting activity. I even see some toy and girl/girl activity in there too.
- Stylish Shoots, Crisp Pictures. The shoots are mostly in color although some black & white are mixed in. Something like that adds to the style of the overall collection. While the pictures aren't large enough to qualify as high-res by TBP's standards they are sharp and crisp looking with a professional photographer quality about them.
- Low Monthly Price. The $14.95 initial price is important mostly due to the amount of material that's available to members. Since this is a small site it's good to see they've kept the price lower so that surfers don't have to feel like they're paying a lot for a little content.
The Bads:
- Only Pictures, No Videos. Nowadays so few sites have only pictures that this jumped out at me right away. The site creator Chuck Stevens specializes in erotic photography but by going the internet paysite route it would be a good idea if he expanded his work to include some form of video shoots.
- Could Use High-Res Pics. For a picture only site the size of the pictures left me wanting more. When a site is going to forego videos they should do everything to make the pics as interesting as possible. Super high-res pics would be a valuable addition here.
- Navigation is a Bit Choppy. The overall layout and navigation aren't as smooth as they could be. One specific thing I noticed is that there are links for downloadable zip files on the content only on the updates page. When browsing the content thru the model index the download options isn't available. That's the type of thing that should be smoothed out.
Conclusion:
Bondage USA went online in the summer of 2007 so that accounts for the relatively small amount of content available. The foundation of exclusive and stylish bondage photos is respectable. To me the site has a bit of an incomplete feel that could be corrected by adding an additional feature like videos or some special picture options. Since it's still in its early stages it'll be interesting to see how the site grows and progresses over time.
