Up for review today is BDSM Giant, and giant they are indeed. They offer up over 260 full DVD's currently, which amounts to almost 1,100 scenes - that's a lot of content for sure. We've reviewed a couple sites before from this company, so I'm familiar with how it works. They build DVD sites that focus on niches, which of course is BDSM in this case. You've heard the content counts, and you can get in for $25 a month, or a trial and three-month options are available as well.
The goods:
- Lots of content up. I mentioned the numbers earlier, but they deserve it again I think. With a couple hundred DVD's up, there's just a lot to see compared to most paysites we see. It's non-exclusive of course, but at least they've got the numbers.
- Nice niche material. It's BDSM content for sure, which is nice to see on a DVD site like this. Granted it's pretty generic BDSM, but they have a wide range of content at least.
- New DVD added weekly. That amounts to 5-6 new scenes a week of course, which is pretty decent. It's smaller than most DVD site schedules, but much larger than most generic paysites.
The bads:
- Only WMV videos offered. For a video/DVD site, I'd really love to see more options here in the video department. They have a couple quality options, but they're all WMV. Adding another (or two more?) video types would be a big help to those who aren't into WMV files.
- Some videos were 403 errors. It didn't happen often, but I ran into a video problem every now and again here for some reason.
- Downloads were a little slow. They settled in to around half speed for what we usually see, which isn't bad because the files did get here, but it wasn't ideal either. A video site should really have the best possible bandwidth for us, and I'm not sure what the deal is here (I had a similar problem on my last visit a month or two ago).
Conclusion:
It's a little simple, but the concept works here. There's lots of content, they offer a lot of benefits other DVD sites offer, but they focus on just one niche. Everything runs as expected, which is a little slower than a generic DVD site, but a bit better than a normal paysite. There are a few changes I'd like to see, but overall they are doing pretty well here I'd say.
