BDSM Giant is a DVD/movie download site focused entirely on BDSM/Fetish content. For the most part movie download sites tend to be generalist sites that cover all sorts of niches targeted at the widest possible audience. BDSM Giant goes after just the fetish crowd with its narrower focus. The guest tour layout is user-friendly in that surfers can browse the collection exactly as members see it. So for those who do a few minutes of browsing it's one of those sites where you can go in knowing exactly what content is available and how the navigation works. They just lay it all out there and if you signup for access to the downloadable files.
The Goods:
- BDSM/Fetish Focused DVD Site. Having reviewed virtually all the mainstream DVD sites I know that often times the fetish categories aren't full developed so it's an asset that these guys focus entirely on BDSM/Fetish movies. There are about a few hundred DVDs on the site from a whole host of studios.
- Good Sub-Niches & Content Mix. With BDSM as the overarching theme the movies are further broken down into dozens of sub-niches that are narrower in their fetish focus. Overall there is some good variety with tiles representing many different specialties.
- Nice Vid Facts & Navigation Set-up. The individual video pages have a respectable number of details about the film. Things like title, studio, length, stars, categories, and description are all posted. Running time and file sizes in Mb for individual scenes is also posted. The site navigation is straightforward with browsing by niche, studio, genre, and a simple keyword search. While it's not overly flashy there's nothing tricky about it either.
The Bads:
- Video Quality Could Be Improved. Videos are offered in three quality levels and the highest (labeled DVD quality) is only okay. I'd say it’s in the middle of the pack and there is room for improvement in this area. WMV is the only format so additional choices there wouldn't hurt either.
- Updates Once Per Week. BDSM Giant's updates are very consistent and clearly dated with a long history available for browsing. In comparison to other movie sites the update pace is on the slow side. Considering this is DVD content I'd expect them to be adding stuff 3 or 5 times per week or even every day.
- Non-Exclusive Content. This is simply the nature of DVD download sites although it's worth mentioning. BDSM giant has movies from a mix of studios so they may or may not have movies you are interested in. This is where the open guest tour comes in handy so guests can check out the collection in full before getting a membership.
Conclusion:
BDSM Giant is a good source for downloadable BDSM/Fetish movies. While the number of titles isn't overwhelming I'd have to there are probably more fetish movies than general DVD sites have in their fetish sections. The $24.95/mo price is standard though the trial recurs at a higher rate and only gives partial access. All-in-all the BDSM DVD focus is the one distinctive quality and the rest of the site is pretty standard for a movie download site.
