Let me tell you about this amazing (literally) site we're checking out today - it's called Amazing Pass (see?). It's a good, old-fashioned AVS site if you can believe it; we haven't looked at one of those in a long while it seems. The amazing news here is the great price they've given you as our reader of just $15 a month, down $10 from the normal $25 monthly membership. We're off to a good start, and the rest will fall into place based on the content and sites they have, and how easy it is to find them.
The goods:
- Great price. You can't argue with a special bargain for you guys of $15 a month, and they have a lot of content to check out for that price too of course. It's nice to see sites stepping up and doing this since it really helps the review's bottom line as well.
- Quality is okay. You've usually got 640x480 videos across the board here which is a good start, and a lot of them seem to be ripped from DVD's at times so quality is okay. There's always room for improvement, but I was glad to not see some crappy 250kbps stuff some sites try to pull off.
- Updates do come fairly often. Checking out their network update schedule, new stuff comes every couple days it seems on one site or another. I was a little surprised with all the sites they have that there weren't more updates, but it's still growing faster than most paysites do.
The bads:
- Browsing around is just average (plain). Besides picking a category, or browsing the newest or most popular sites, there's just not much exciting here in terms of finding sites. I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for here except something innovative and easier than what they've got.
- With all their sites, the network doesn't pull even daily updates. There's 350 some-odd sites here, and updates only end up coming every couple days! That doesn't seem right to me. I would have hoped for multiple daily updates on a few of their sites since there's so much to see here.
- Server was a bit slow for me for downloading. It's an even bigger problem with their video files can top 200 megabytes pretty easily. Downloads came at about half speed for me for some reason, and I can only hope it's a temporary problem on their end (or somewhere in between my computer and their server).
Conclusion:
I guess this is just about what I expected for a site like this in today's world. The content was fine and fun, as long as you don't mind what you're getting exactly. There's lots of generic hardcore available, and at the price it's a pretty good deal with how much of it there is. There are better video sites out there for sure, but you're not going to go wrong joining this one for something a little different.
