Intro

Adult Empire is up for review today, and this is a PPV-type site featuing a shit ton of DVDs available for viewing on a per-minute, rental, or purchase basis. So there's no monthly fee here, but you can buy packages of minutes for streaming video, or you can rent a movie for a few days, or buy it outright. It's a good deal if you don't want to view a lot, but not as good if you like the unlimited nature of a normal paysite. They have a pretty wide variety of DVDs, and may be able to offer content that's a little more original than a regular DVD mega-site due to the PPV setup.

The Pros

Huge collection!

I love how much content these PPV DVD sites can pull in, and Adult Empire is no exception. There are over 60,000 full DVDs online currently, which is just a ton of content. If each DVD has an average of five scenes, there are around 300k scenes up - crazy!! Granted, you don't get access to them all without paying for them, but they're there for your need along with the variety such a large collection offers.

Large daily updates.

I don't think there's a set schedule or anything, and technically, some days can go by without any new additions, but as a whole, there aren't any problems with updates here at all. This past week brought over 60 new DVDs to the site, average around nine new ones per day.

Other Good Stuff:

They do have some category filters to narrow things down a bit. They could definitely use a more robust setup with how much content they have, but it's something.

The Cons

Could get expensive pretty quickly.

If you're used to paying $20-$30 and getting an all-you-can-eat pass to grab whatever you want, you'll be sorely disappointed here. $49 will get you eight hours of viewing on the site, which is pretty damn good, but it's not early the same. Watch how much money you're spending here for sure as it can probably add up quickly.

Quality isn't good.

None of the videos here look that great, unfortunately. Some of the rentals and purchases offer HD content, but that's not the norm. The streaming quality along with the DVD material puts them below average for sure.

Navigation could still be better.

While they do have some basic navigation functions setup such as a category list, when you offer 60,000 DVDs, you need more than the basics. I'd love to see some kind of advanced search setup here to help you narrow things down a lot easier. Plus, you can only browse by DVD, and not by scene, which is a huge pain as well.

Bottom Line

Pretty standard as far as VOD sites go; it's pretty good all around without really offering much new.

Adult Empire offers everything you'd expect from a PPV site without ever breaking any new ground, though. They have a ton of content up, with large daily updates making those numbers continue to grow. The navigation is okay, but could still be better with a site of this size. Prices are in line with other similar sites, but if you view a lot here, you could pay a hefty fee for the privilege. While you don't get the unlimited aspect of a regular DVD paysite, you may be able to find a few titles that you wouldn't otherwise have access to here.
