899 Movies is a DVD archive site that allows users access to their entire collection for one monthly price. Despite its massive size, this isn’t a pay per view site. Nope, you get every single DVD here included in your membership. I was also relieved to see that the movies aren’t streaming-only or DRM restricted. This is a fully-downloadable collection that is yours to keep forever. As is usually the case on DVD archive sites, you can browse through their categories and see exactly what you’ll get as a paying member inside.
The Goods –
They’ve got a great-sized collection of content. There are currently over 3,443 DVDs on the site, each full-length and over 100 minutes long. They cover all the major categories and some more off the wall ones, like vintage, secretaries, lactating, and even midgets. Don’t worry if your tastes are more mainstream; there are plenty of Asians, orgies, and handjobs, as well.
One of the features that sets 899 Movies apart is the ability to create custom-length downloads. You can choose the exact starting point and stopping point in a scene and just download that. If you hate the chit chat at the start of a scene, cut it. If you’re all about cumshots, create an entire library of just the part of the movie with the money shot. It’s a fun tool that could be very useful.
Members of 899 Movies also get access to 12 additional sites. These include sites like Caballero Classics, Pornstar Classics, and Candy Films. It’s definitely a video-focused collection that fans of 899 Movies should enjoy.
The Bads –
Quality needs work. Their highest quality option plays at just 800k! That’s well below what we see on most sites these days. I’m not even sure that would cut it on an amateur site, let alone a DVD site. The videos are not nearly as sharp as they should be.
None of the content here is exclusive. That should come as no surprise, considering the genre we’re talking about, but it is worth mentioning that nothing here is original and all of it can be found on other sites.
Updates are erratic. July has had 8 updates, June had 5, May had 9, April had 12. Their FAQ page claims they “update very aggressively by adding new DVD’s every day.” That is clearly not the case anymore.
Conclusion –
Though there’s certainly a lot to enjoy at 899 Movies, unfortunately I don’t think they’re keeping up in a very competitive genre. There are plenty of other sites out there offering the same exact movies that are much higher quality. These other sites update more often and sometimes even do it all at a price lower than $25 a month. The multi-site access certainly helps, but all in all there are just better joins out there for this type of site.
